With a little help from my husband we cut off both ends of the door with a skill saw.
I found the decorative brackets at the local Ace Hardware store for about $8 each. They are metal and are actually used to hang plants, but they were strong and just what I was looking for. They were originally white, but I spraypainted them black.
Next was time to try out the paint. See the Annie Sloan Emperor's Silk color. After I painted it I added a clear Annie Sloan wax and waited for it to dry. Afterwards I took some 60 grit sandpaper and hand sand the spots I wanted to showcase. Then I added a black wax. I highly recommend the Annie Sloan wax brushes. They really make a ton of difference.
After I added the black wax then I use a white t-shirt to buff off the black wax and entire table. The black wax really makes the distressed marks stand out.
